Avril Ramona Lavigne was born in Belleville, Ontario, Canada on September 27, 1984 to working class parents of French-Canadian descent. She is a recording artist, writing her own songs, a clothing designer and actress.
She released her first studio album "Let Go" in 2002. First single off the album called "Complicated" became number one in several English speaking countries and overall the album went platinum six times. She also had success with the next two singles off the same album "Sk8er Boi" and "I'm With You", won the MTV Music Award for Best New Artist in 2002. She was nominated for six Juno Awards out of which she won four in 2003 and also received eight Grammy nominations. "Under My Skin" is Lavigne's second album, which was released in the late spring of 2004. It debuted at number one in numerous countries all over the world, including Canada, Japan, Mexico, U.S. and others. The most successful singles off the album were "Don't Tell Me", "My Happy Ending", "Nobody's Home". Third studio album was released in the spring of 2007 by the name of "The Best Damn Thing" the first single "Girlfriend" Avril's most successful song so far, looking at chart placement and the number of downloads across the world. The release of her fourth album is scheduled to be in June 2010. She has been included in the FHM and Maxim "hottest and sexiest lists" several times.
Lavigne was married to lead singer and guitarist of the band "Sum 41". They said their "I Do" in July 2006, a little more than two years after they started dating. However, in the fall of 2009 it was announced that they were separating and shortly after that divorce papers followed.
