The Pussycat Dolls have an interesting history. You might know them as a popular girl pop group but that's not how it all started. In 1995 a dance choreographer named Robin Antin formed the group as a burlesque troupe based in Los Angeles. They put on incredibly sexy and intricate lingerie and did lusty dance routines on stage. No nudity was involved. It was simply about the appreciation of their incredible beauty and their dancing ability. Celebrities often make guest appearances during the shows - Carmen Electra did several - and they started building a great deal of buzz.

Seeing an opportunity to make a boatload of money a record deal was struck with Interscope and the group was turned into one of the sexiest pop acts on the planet. New girls were brought in and they ended up having a great deal of success. Nicole Scherzinger was the breakout star and the group has begun to revolve entirely around her. When they went on hiatus in early 2010 to record their new album there were apparently blowups behind the scenes and when the band returns all the girls except for Nicole will be gone.

The group has been criticized continuously for its overtly sexual dance routines but people are missing the point. The whole thing was founded as a burlesque troupe and they're not going to let go of that just because they're doing music. You don't see the Pussycat Dolls nude but when they're on stage they're wearing very little and all of it is highly arousing so you can expect to be aroused if you ever spend time with them, be it on stage or in pictures and video. The group has sold a fair number of albums and they continue to tour well. The burlesque show can still be seen in Las Vegas at Caesar's Palace where they have their own lounge.
